Yilan Liu got her Master of Natural Science and PhD in Biochemical Engineering at Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. She conducted post-doctoral training at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, U.S and University of Toronto, Canada. Between 2021 and 2022, she conducted Research Associate at University of Toronto. Yilan Liu joined the Department of Chemical Engineering as an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo in 2023. In Liu’s lab for synthetic biology and sustainable development (LSS), She focuses on harnessing synthetic biology to deliver products and services that contribute to sustainable development.

She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, Pharmacy (2006-2011). I am the head of the Computer Science department at the School of Software and Electrical Engineering at The Azrieli College of Engineering. My research lab studies computational biology. Our research covers a wide range of topics, including biofilm research and personalized medicine in cancer research.
